New from iRobot is the next generation military robot, the Warrior 700 . Similar in design and functionality to its much smaller brethren the Packbot, the Warrior 700 retains the same functionality but scales it up, to a much larger, more capable and beefier platform.

The Warrior 700 recently put through its paces in Washington D.C., is capable of performing a plethora of multi-missions from Bomb Disposal, SWAT and Surveillance, to battlefield casualty extraction. Weighing in at 342.5 lbs and capable of carrying a payload in excess of 150 lbs, the Warrior 700 can reach speeds up to 9.3MPH, ford 30” of water, climb stairs/slopes up to 45 degrees all while being remotely operated from a distance of 2,624 ft away. In addition, all onboard electronics have been hardened to military specs MIL_STD-461 and MIL_STD-464 and the Warrior can traverse rugged outdoor terrain as well as navigate tight indoor quarters using its proprietary ‘dual track articulated flipper design’.

The first iRobot Warrior 700 units should be meeting the bad guys on a remote battlefield In late 2009. Take a look at the battlefield casualty extraction video below; urban warfare will never be the same.
