Taiwan recently finished construction on a phenomenal solar powered stadium that will
generate all its own its electricity from photovoltaic cells. The stadium Designed by Toyo
Ito is dragon in shape and is able to seat roughly 50,000 people. The arena will be clad with
some 8,844 solar panels and be able to produce a staggering 1.14 million KWh per year powering
the stadium's 3,300 lights and two jumbo vision screens.
With this design the future of new posting arena's may never be the same. Now stadiums of the future
will actually produce their own clean efficient renewable power right on the premises. In addition, any
all excess power will be sold during non-game periods and fed into the local grid, where it will
meet 80% of the neighboring area's energy needs.
The permeation of Solar power into our world continues ....
