Dell Inc on Monday unveiled its latest and greatest mega-thin upper echelon laptop, the Latitude Z. Weighing in at a svelte 4.5 pounds and incorporating a "nano like" design thickness of less than one inch , the Latitude Z is the world's thinnest and lightest 16-inch laptop.
The thin and light design paradigm has gained increasing favor with PC makers over the past two years, and as the technology to make it all happen continues to advance at its current torrid pace, the physical future of the laptop and the PC is a small one.
In addition to its cutting-edge design, the Latitude Z utilizes a nifty new feature called "inductive charging". This allows the laptop to be recharged without using a power cord. ust place the Latitude Z into its special docking station, and It's off and recharging, employing the same concept that's been used by electric toothbrushes for several years
now.
The Latitude Z also comes with an always on functionality that allows the user instant access to email and the internet, and a touch sensitive screen frame that can launch any number of applications.
While thin and light in design, the Latitude is fat and heavy on price, starting at $1,999.
