Samsung is taking direct aim against the Flip camcorder with its new
HMX-U10 fixed-focus, ultra-compact camcorder that goes on sale in September.
The new camcorder is almost a direct clone of the Flip with its 56mm x 103mm x 15.5mm size and weight of just 95g, including the battery. The HMX-U10
takes 10 megapixel stills or 1920 x 1080 Full HD H.264 video and includes a 2-inch
LCD for easy playback and editing. Samsung has also incorporated its intelli-studio
Software to provide easy one button Youtube uploads. The ultra-compact HMX-U10 should prove to be a formidable competitor
with its estimated price of tag of $200, its larger sensor and higher overall resolution.
