A new video game from Codemasters is due out this fall. This game will play on Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows (PC) and Microsoft Xbox 360 platforms. What is it? A first person tactical military simulation game designed to realistically represent modern infantry combat. The setting for the game is a small fictional island off the north coast of Japan called Skira in the present day. This island is most directly related to a real island called Kiska.

The game play involves a fictional plot whereby the player arrives as part of the American Military whose task is to capture the island on behalf of the Russians from the Chinese Military.

The specifics are still unknown, however multiplayer will be included in the game. In addition, the game play is completely open, and objectives are assigned as they would be in real life. Highly sophisticated Artificial Intelligence is built in and plays a big part of the unscripted game play. The developers used tactics out of US training manuals for AI programming.

The graphics are amazing; with a large number of faces developed for the characters involved in the game. The details are exacting. The equipment that is carried by each character is accurate and where applicable, distinct to that character’s role. The arsenal of weapons features Thermal vision equipment. Other features include: Dynamic weather system, Real time lighting and shadow system, and a “swimming” mechanic which means the player will be able to tread water and move through it.
