Audi has announced that it will release a race version of its renowned R8 supercar this coming fall designated the R8 GT3 . The R8 GT3 will feature many performance enhancements and upgrades over the standard non race version of the R8 and is designed to meet all GT3 racing series specifications. Mechanically, the R8 GT3 features several modifications from production car, these include the following; Audi has replaced the Quattro AWD system in favor of a RWD setup, added a menacing track-ready aerodynamics kit promising greatly increased down force and handling prowess, a 6 speed sequential manual transmission, and a gasoline motor promising more than 500 horsepower.

Being huge fans of the standard R8, it beckons us to pose the next and most important question for posting this article….Will the 2010 Audi R8 GT3, be street legal? Audi has not released the official word on this yet, but let's hope they follow along the same business model as Porsche and offer to the public a limited number of these beautiful high performance machines.
