Samsung recently unveiled the Pixon12 (M8910), the world’s first 12 megapixel camera phone with full touch screen. Long gone are the days when cell phone cameras topped out at 1-3 Megapixels. The Pixon12 comes in response to consumers ever increasing demand for more robust, high resolution cameras in their mobile phones

The Pixon12 features a XEON flash, a brilliant 3.1” AMOLED touch screen with 720x480 resolution and a contrast ratio of 10,000:1, 150MB of internal memory, a microSD slot, GSM/GRPS/EDGE compatibility, HSPA, GPS, FM radio with RDS and video recording at 30fps.

The Pixon12 enables users to take perfect pictures quickly and easily, thanks to its dedicated camera power key which provides a fast one-touch address to the cameras functions. Once the camera is turned on, users simply aim and snap, capturing images as fast as today’s most advanced digital cameras. The Pixon12 also features fast image saving allowing it to move from shot to shot in less than 2 seconds. Also coupled with the Pixon’s rapid shooting ability, is the Touch Auto-Focus (AF) tracking feature. This allows users to simply select a focus point with the touch of a finger, while the AF then automatically tracks the object, keeping it in focus as it moves across the screen.

The Pixon12 also features Samsung’s Share Pix software with full Wi-Fi connection ability, allowing users to easily upload images and videos to the popular networking sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, Myspace, Photobucket, Friendster and Gizmotrix, in a breeze.

The Samsung Pixon12 looks to change the way we take photographs forever. It will be available at the end of June in Europe and will be expanded to other regions by late summer.

It's a real possiblity that cell phones cameras might become the defacto picture taking method in the near future, especially with resolutions approaching that of dedicated cameras ....

I love that this camera will take a picture of a moving object...I have that problem now that every photo I take with the subject moving it comes out blurry..for a small camera that 's amazing.
