My gut feeling is that the other cell phone manafacturers are going to have a very hard time in derailing Apple's iphone. In addition, no other manafacturer even comes close to Apple's developer suite and breadth of available applications. If at some point in the future Apple allows others carriers to sell the iphone, it could prove to be a death blow for one or more of the weaker phone producers.
I agree with paulieee in that it will be hard to beat the iphone, however, every new product that comes out and creates a buzz will get group of people that love it. So even if this phone doesn't overtake the iphone, I am sure it will do well with sales.
